MEGAN GEORGIA SMITH

Megan Georgia Smith (born 1999) is an artist from Aldershot, Hampshire. Often, her work is autobiographical, drawing upon her own social and cultural surroundings for inspiration. Artworks of Megan's have been exhibited in galleries such as Aspex Gallery (2020), Tate Britain (2021), and Bridport Arts Centre (2023).

“I am a painter/sculptor whose work documents & explores notions of class, youth culture & generally, the condition of being human. As an Artist who does not live or work in London, it is easy to feel isolated from the London-centric arts scene, however, I have come to view my hometown (and current address) as a place of inspiration and potential, rather than a place that stifles me creatively, and in my career in the arts”.

Megan’s creative endeavours as an Artist have ultimately influenced her desire to work with children and young people, engaging audiences in the benefits of art education, practice and participation. In 2023, she worked as a facilitator at The Agency helping young people aged 15-25 deliver social impact projects in their local areas. Megan currently works at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village as an Engagement Coordinator on the Learning Team.
